Money Monday Recap

We had some great presentations from La Capitale and RBC at this week's Money Monday. Here are some highlights from La Cap:
Fees the same as the underlying mutual fund
100% death benefit guarantee (up to age 75)
Available as TFSA, RRSP, LIRA, RRIF and LIF, not non-registered
Probate avoidance and potential creditor protection
Equity linked GIC available with no age limit
iPad based application
Insurance based GICs with no age limit
And from RBC we had an industry update which included:
60% of Canadians are not familiar with segregated funds
RBC lowered MERs on all their balanced funds by 20bps, these prices are in-line or better than some of the competition’s HNW offerings
RBC also presented data showing how important it is to know a client’s spouse and children. If you don’t know your clients’ spouses and children, it’s unlikely they’ll choose your services when your client passes away
If you’d like more info about these companies, let Rick Gallant or I know and we’ll be glad to help out. Watch out for an announcement about a presentation from B2B and our next Money Monday is on April 30th when Desjardins and Sun Life will be presenting.
